Overview
Lastic Document Writer provides a new approach to producing formal documents as hard copy or as postscript and PDF files.
Each document type can be directed to a specific printer or directory. Data to be reported is stored in an associated ‘source’ directory (the primary data structure is an XML file) along with any images to be embedded into the final document. Your applications are responsible for generating the source XML files (for Caché & M systems these files could be generated by the Lastic DTD Project Manager).
Source directories are scanned for incoming data and the reports produced and directed to the associated printer or directory.
With the ability to align and wordwrap texts specified in proportional fonts, your system is no longer limited to producing tired-looking fixed pitch reports.
